Gift
Sometimes, in life, you receive a gift
Something or someone enters your life
And changes it, somehow
It makes your life worthwhile again
It makes you live it to its full potential
It shows you everything that could be
It makes you want to realize all your possibilities
Take every chance
Live life to the fullest
It makes you want to be the best of you
Not wasting time with frivolities
Understanding what really matters in life
But there is a caveat
The gift is not yours to keep
One day you will have to let it go
Let someone else enjoy its powers
Let someone else receive the joys of the gift
Let your life unfold by itself
The old indians were aware of that
“The gift must always move”
For it is in the nature of the gift
Letting go of the gift is hard
It is as being amputated
Something that has become part of you is gone
There is the ghost pain
The haunting memories
The need to have it back
But, as water in a river
The gift must flow
Let someone else enjoy it
Contemplate the fact that you once had the gift
And that the gift is an unbreakable contract
Once received, the gift owns you forever
But, maybe, someday
You will not need a gift
Maybe, someday, you will be someone else’s gift
